San Diego Forward: The Regional Plan adds more choices to our transportation system. With changes in land
use that have occurred in the region - and that will continue to occur in the coming decades - more people
will live in community centers. The goal of our future transportation system is to connect those
centers with each other using a variety of transportation choices – not just highways, but also carpool
lanes, rail and bus services, and active transportation facilities (bikeways and walking paths).
San Diego Forward: The Regional Plan is a blueprint for how the region will invest more than $200 billion in projects and
improvements in our transportation network over the next 35 years. The improvements will make it easier
to get from point A to point B, and they will allow us to choose modes of travel that will fuel our
economy, preserve our environment, and protect our quality of life.
Using the boxes below you will be able to see what projects we are planning. Choose a year and a mode for
getting around. Up will pop a map showing what projects we are planning to be complete by that year. Zoom
