Continuing Action – Leverage Crossborder Economic Relationships

In April 2016, SANDAG, in partnership with Caltrans and the Imperial County Transportation Commission, initiated a study to evaluate the economic and air quality/climate impacts of delays at the California-Baja California ports of entry. Also in April 2016, SANDAG Board members and staff participated in the 11th annual California-Mexico Trade Initiative in Mexico City. Participants met with federal officials and business and trade representatives to discuss border infrastructure, renewable energy projects, and other relevant crossborder issues.

As part of the California-Baja California study to evaluate economic and air quality/climate impacts of delays at ports of entry, the study team finalized the summary of at-border data collection results report as well as the white paper that documents existing border wait time technologies and information systems used to disseminate wait time data amongst port of entry infrastructure systems and border crossers.
